About Me

Who I am, what I do, and what drives me

I build and optimize cloud infrastructure that powers modern applications. My journey began with telecommunication engineering and evolved through network engineering into DevOps — giving me a full-stack view of how data moves from physical cables to containerized microservices.

Today, I work as a DevOps Engineer at Quantum Group, managing CloudStack infrastructure, orchestrating Kubernetes workloads, and automating deployment pipelines. I led the migration of legacy systems to containerized environments and implemented organization-wide backup, disaster recovery, and patching policies.

Before DevOps, I was a Network Support Engineer at Linknet Group, resolving complex network issues and securing enterprise infrastructure. That grounding in networking, security, and on-the-ground support shapes how I approach infrastructure today.

Cloud Infrastructure

Designing and managing scalable cloud environments with Apache CloudStack, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices to ensure high availability and resilience.

My hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure spans both private and hybrid cloud environments. At Quantum Group, I work extensively with Apache CloudStack — configuring domain hierarchies, managing instance provisioning and resizing, setting up VPCs with ACLs and load balancers, and deploying Kubernetes clusters via CKS. I've designed multi-tenant architectures that isolate workloads while maximizing resource utilization. I focus on building highly available systems with automated failover, disaster recovery planning, and comprehensive backup strategies. My approach emphasizes security-first design, cost optimization, and scalability from day one.

Automation & CI/CD

Building robust deployment pipelines, infrastructure as code with Terraform, and automated workflows that reduce manual toil and accelerate delivery cycles.

I believe that anything done more than once should be automated. My CI/CD philosophy centers on creating pipelines that are not just fast, but safe — with automated testing, staged rollouts, and instant rollback capabilities. I've built deployment pipelines that integrate with CloudStack APIs for automated infrastructure provisioning, configured GitOps workflows for Kubernetes deployments, and implemented infrastructure-as-code pipelines using Terraform with remote state management and modular design patterns. I automate everything from server provisioning and configuration management to monitoring setup and security compliance checks, reducing deployment time from hours to minutes.

Cybersecurity

ISC2 CC certified with practical experience in secure infrastructure design, firewall configuration (OPNsense), intrusion detection, and security hardening.

Security is not a feature — it's a mindset that must be embedded at every layer of the infrastructure stack. As an ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) professional, I apply defense-in-depth principles across all my work. I've built a comprehensive cybersecurity homelab featuring OPNsense as the central firewall with strict WAN/LAN separation, VLAN-based network segmentation, Suricata intrusion detection, and a three-node high-availability Zabbix monitoring cluster. I develop and enforce policies for patching, upgrades, backup, restore, and incident response. My security approach covers endpoint protection, access controls, network hardening, and continuous monitoring — ensuring that security keeps pace with rapid infrastructure changes.

AI & ML Exploration

Actively exploring machine learning applications for network optimization, predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and AI-driven operations (AIOps).

I am deeply fascinated by the intersection of AI/ML and infrastructure operations. My exploration focuses on practical applications that solve real engineering problems: predictive analytics for anticipating server failures and capacity bottlenecks before they occur, anomaly detection models that learn normal network behavior and flag suspicious patterns for security incident response, and intelligent resource allocation using reinforcement learning for dynamic scaling decisions. I've completed specialized training through AWS AI Practitioner, ALX Africa AI Career Essentials, and Google Data Analytics programs. I actively research AIOps — the application of AI to IT operations — and experiment with ML models in my homelab to build prototypes that could eventually transform how infrastructure is managed.

Network Engineering

Strong foundation in network design, routing/switching, VoIP systems, and network troubleshooting gained through hands-on engineering experience.

My career began with networks, and that foundation continues to inform everything I build today. During my internship at Linknet Group of Companies, I diagnosed and resolved complex network connectivity issues for enterprise clients — troubleshooting router and switch configurations, identifying cabling faults, resolving IP addressing problems, and optimizing network performance. I supported the installation and configuration of network infrastructure including switches, access points, and VoIP systems. My telecommunication engineering degree gave me deep knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model, routing protocols, signal processing, and network architecture. This background means I understand not just how to configure a network, but how data actually moves through it — an invaluable perspective for designing cloud networks, troubleshooting latency issues, and optimizing distributed system performance.

Infrastructure as Code

Treating infrastructure as software — version-controlled, tested, and automated deployment of servers, networks, and configurations using modern IaC tools.

Infrastructure as Code transformed how I think about operations. Rather than manually configuring servers and networks, I define everything in code — version-controlled in Git, reviewed through pull requests, tested in CI/CD pipelines, and deployed automatically. I use Terraform as my primary IaC tool, with a focus on modular architecture, remote state management, and reusable modules that can be composed to build complex environments. I apply IaC principles to not just cloud resources but also to configuration management, monitoring setup, and security policies. This approach ensures reproducibility, eliminates configuration drift, enables disaster recovery through code-based rebuilds, and provides a complete audit trail of every infrastructure change. My goal is infrastructure that is fully defined, versioned, tested, and deployed through automated pipelines.
